I’m not in denial.
I just cannot use the past tense. He was and he still is.
The joy he gave me for 18 years – to be honest, there were times we bickered like cats and dogs, but all the time we were the greatest of friends – and he was just fun to be with.
We’ll be together again one day.
If there was just one ounce of trust that this was true then that ounce would be enough.
There’s plenty more than just one little ounce.
He still smiles. And one day, he and I’ll be back together to make me laugh.
