‘Dream a little dream of me’

Stars shining right above you
Night-breezes seem to whisper: I love you
Birds singing in the sycamore-trees
Dream a little dream of me.
Say night-y-night and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me
While I’m alone as blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me.
Stars fading but I linger on dear
Still craving your kiss
I’m longing to linger till dawn dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me.
Stars fading but I linger on dear
Still craving your kiss
I’m longing to linger till dawn dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me.

I think this was originally an Ella Fitzgerald song but the version you probably know [and which sits in my veins like warm juice on these cold, grey wet July evenings] was sung my Mama Cass.

About tony forever
